Getting back into the swing of things.

Being on holiday for too long is not something I would recommend.
It may not be too bad when you think about it for too long but leaving myself unchallenged for so long drove me insane. Also as much as I love the bastards I live with seeing them every day, all day without fail can be grinding.

Going back to uni at least has given me something to do and made life much more interesting as well. I know I am crap at gettinhg to work and doing deadlines but I am so laid back it works for me. I need some sort of pressure to get stuff done. I was once taught that having too little stress is just as unhealthy as having too much. Well for the mind at least, stress can still fuck with your body more.

As I was saying I need to be put under pressure to get stuff done. I don't do this well myself so I find myself playing mind games with myself. I went out and came back with a Burger King before starting to work. The logic was, this was my treat for doing the work and since I have had the treat the work definitely needs to be done as well.
I got the work done but it didn't work. I forgot about it comepletely by the end of the night. I guess once I get into the swing of things I can keep going. (Which brings me cleverly back to the title... ok it was an accident but it's funny how the mind works.)

Anyway with 3 deadlines done this week (people must be sick of me telling that) I don't have work for the long weekend. And having everyone back at uni is good for that too. There are people to go and annoy and be annoyed by. Maybe I should bring the flat I keep bugging gifts because the people who annoy me have made me up by a carton of orange juice.

When I say annoy though I actually don't mean it in a bad way. I am sure they love me and I would reluctantly say the same for the people who keep crashing on my floor.
Now I have gone unexpectedly sentimental. I should wrap it up there. xD
God that smiley feels innapropriate.

It goes on.

I told you I would update. And I am. Well since uni started up again we have been thrown into research and some rubbish computing. It is all going well.

Liam is a slave driver by the way. He loves making us work and if not work, tidy things. Even tidy the studio. I am sure this is stuff I am supposed to do but hey I am not so enthusiastic on the doing things front.

Anyway I am sure anyone who knows me knows I love video games. So I decided to start my own youtube channel about them. Eventually.
The plan is video capturing! I will be able to do lots of playthroughs and record them but the idea is to record voice overs of me as I play. Sure it doesn't sound fascinating but I won't be alone in this if it all goes to plan. I hope to get a team of gamers to have an atmosphere and add discussion. Probably people like my brother, Paul, Iain etc.

It has come to my attention that this failed to post and therefore did not update my blog as much as I had hoped. So I may double post today but this one was written well in advance.

I'm back bitches!

Well I have been off for summer and quite predictively I have had better things to do than blog... Well that is a lie but I don't blog when I am not in a working attitude. Anyway going back to uni has given me the chance to start this up again. Not that anyone missed it over the summer.

Well lets just update! All three of my blogs are starting up again if you want to see them, they are on my profile. This is because I liked the personal blog and I have to keep the design one going for uni now. So why leave the gaming one empty? It is the one I find easiest to write about anyway.

Over the summer I did nothing. Just so you know. But a lot in my life has changed! Mention worthy cases are new friends living in town! We all live in flats now and I can see my friends a lot more easily. Well we don't all live in flats but there has just been a surge of people moving out.

So far my favourite is visiting Nicola and Hayleys flat with Iain. I think he thinks he lives there but I am not sure. He seems to make himself quite at home and has some possessions there. I don't think I will ever think of it as his flat though.
Dishonourable mention to the DIxD second years who have all moved into halls. I mean... god... get a real flat!

Oh yeah and my course name has changed from Interactive Media Design (IMD) to Digital Interaction Design (DIxD). Just so you know the new lingo.

So I am off to play with a didgeridoo. I will update soon hopefully. NO not hopefully! I will!

Coding was invented by SATAN!

All sorts of coding is evil! I know! I have tried a good few in the past year and bit! I don't understand anything when it goes wrong and ANYTHING people put online is also crap.

You could take a guess that my actual projects are not going as well as hoped. And the crap flash we are gonna have will bring down our project as a whole. I feel at a bit of a disadvantage because the marks for the design and actual IDEAS are going to be nerfed.

I hate coding.

Snoozy people

Sometimes the morning is just too much for one person. Other times they embrace it. However we are students so lets not joke around we are not gonna embrace it. Liam is particularly "snoozy" in the morning. He can get up fine but often falls back to sleep even after showering. This is not something that is unique to mornings however. He often does this after nights out too.

Pete just stays in his room until the last moment possible. Sometimes this is too long and we wait for him. But they are usually waiting on me. I just plain old sleep in. Almost every day. But I am trying to get a routine going! Including breakfast!

Medina and other news!

It is the end of an era!

Bar Rio is gone!! Along with... er... Tina! And... um... lying student menus.

Ok so we did not go there that much but still we feel an impact. And not just the hammers from under our feet. They have rebuilt it as Medina! I don't know quite what it is though. It is not too depressing though because Bar Rio never did much for us.

This was actually my first blog. I lost interest and it flopped. But it is getting more attention now and I have a lot to say about the gaming industry and its users. The posts are quite long though and Pete pops up a lot as an example of a bad gamer. Sorry Pete but running and hiding in Call of Duty whilst your AI partner did everything for you was the last straw.
It is a good read I hope if you like to be critical about games and if you disagree comment and I will love that to!

This is the big new member!! It is a more serious blog compared to the others and even if you are not a designer I would REALLY love other peoples opinions! It is not hugely complicated stuff either! The design I am doing pretty much concerns everyone. And if you ARE a designer you definitely should contribute. You know who you are. (hint: we're on the same course)

I PASSED!

I passed! Everything is good and I passed java! I HATE JAVA BUT I PASSED!

This calls for celebration except uni has just started again so not much hope of drinking a lot!
I am excited to get started on something new but my body is just so tired. I need to get my ass in gear though. Liam gave me an inspirational lecture on our way to get food today. I do have a while to research though. Ugh I need to make a design blog as well now... Yay for that >.<

We will have to see but now I am being bothered by Dave and Liam to get off and tell them my blog address cause they want to follow and me follow them too. So I have to go!

Today I took the plunge. The facebook one. I don't know what made me but I hate it already. It is demanding my attention about everything. I am better off without it! I will delete it at some point hopeefully but I reckon I could do with being in some loops.

Just wish it didn't email me about everything! I will go change that now....

Failure to launch

I think that title is a move title...I cannot remember what it's about or who it stars but I bet you any money it is a rom-com!

Anyway I am talking about my plan to finally go out last night for a drink! It never happens and you know what? It didn't happen yesterday! It's not fair! At least we did buy drink from the corner shop down the road before home.

I can't even remember why we failed to end up anywhere... Also the corner shop guy is great! Our first meeting was not so good... he is very cautious of under age folk buying alcohol! And I of course look about 12!
So anyway the first time he did not like my drivers license and could not accept my matric card as ID even though I am clearly both those people and neither are fake. So he asked if I had anything else. I said I have a passport in my flat and I only live across the road! I will be right back with it!

And that was the biggest fuss over ID I have EVER had. We have since gotten over this as he now remembers me from that situation and he is also the guy who delivers papers to the bar I work at so I sometimes have to pay him for that.

P.S. I have since googled failure to launch and it is in fact a rom-com... I hope I never see it.

Awesome SOUND!

I just put an awesome surround sound system in my room! I love it! My dad gave it to me when he replaced it with a newer better surround sound. He is a bit of a gadget freak but you gotta love it.

I am loving the fact it has now made it so my PlayStation has to be surgically removed from my room in order to get it out. So it stays!! Paul has been in m room all day now though which is upsetting. He won't leave because he loves the PlayStation so much. But wait till I get my hands on it!

I think I will become obsessed with this new game I got for christmas and Paul already is. Poor guy.

Flat Life

Living back in the flat!

How can it be so much better than home? Well it's a bit of give and take.

It is certainly warmer at home and there is tv and movies and company! Free food and no cleaning up to do as well.

Yet at the flat I can walk anywhere in town and walk to uni and work. Also all my stuff is here. I just walked downstairs for a breakfast baguette from the really nice sandwich places on my front door step. Also things like the bathroom is bigger with a hot shower for once and the kitchen is bigger. I swear it is one up from my house in some aspects. It has just as many rooms as well and a double bed to boot... I never use that expression...

Double beds can also be a big reminder of your loneliness whenever you sleep in it alone. At least it is not a crappy shaky loft bed!

Home alone, bored and wasting away...

Depressing title I know but it's not about me. It is about the poor man in the Garfield comics!
Garfield is a cat so he isn't real company for a person to live with day in and day out without looking like a total saddo. But he is the main character of the comic strips! So we pay attention to him and not this mans life. (Poor guy I don't even know his name...)

Anyway this site (http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/) documents the comic strips daily without Garfield himself in them. Pointless as it is all you see is the poor mans life day in and day out talking to himself. You read and feel as if you are witnessing one of those social retards who can quickly spiral into depression and even at points he seems on the verge of depression!

OF COURSE HE IS THE OTHER CHARACTER IS MISSING!!

That as the case may be is true but no more comforting to me as I said earlier Garfield is only a cat. Not a person who he speaks to everyday. And watching him talk to nothing in these comics as if somebody is there is as good as talking to a cat in real life. In this context it is a seriously depressing outlook on a mans life.

On another note there is an ad on that site for a different web comic called Curvy. It has a lovely art style and an intriguing premise in the beginning but it quickly, and for no reason lead to lesbian sex... As a quirky web comic it worked fine but then it just threw in sex scenes for no reason at all. These frequented the comic here and there and disrupted the story. Even though it was a ridiculous story it felt so different I wanted to read it but REALLY if you want pointless sex scenes in a comic make one based around that and don't ruin an otherwise quirky, interesting storyline. But if you can look past that and read on you get pulled in enough to forget about the sex subject only for it to fly into your face later with all the grace and impact of a wet flannel.
